Royal Oak, Michigan – July, 2010 -- RealTime Technologies (RTI), a part of Arotech Corporation’s (NasdaqGM: ARTX) Training and Simulation Division, announced today that it has been selected to deliver to Jiaotong University's School of Traffic and Transportation a full cab simulator with an advanced 1-DOF motion base and 300 degree FOV visual wrap-around screen system. RTI will be working closely with Dr. Xuedong Yan, professor and executive director for MOE Lab for Transportation Complex Systems Theory and Technology, and the research team at the university.
Dr. Yan has used vehicle simulation products to conduct vital transportation safety and intelligent transportation design research for many years in the U.S. In China he will continue this research and collaborate with those he has worked with in the U.S. and throughout the world. In order for this work to go forward he and his colleagues in Beijing selected RTI to partner with to provide the type of open architecture vehicle simulation technology to build their critical traffic and transportation research center around. Of course RTI is very pleased that we will be able to work with this fine University in Beijing and the plan is to deliver the simulator in the latter part of 2010.
About The Simulator Hardware and Software:
The simulator design will be a full cab 1-DOF motion base research vehicle simulator with a very immersive 300 degree FOV segmented forward facing visual system. The motion base will consist of a circular path that rotates about a horizontal axis located 60 inch from the motion path (basically a circular path on the circumference of a 60 inch radius circle) This causes the driver to sense a combined pitching motion and forward/rearward motion. Realtime Technologies will also provide its unique and powerful "SimVista" (scenario development tools) along with "SimCreator" (core vehicle simulation software) and "SimSimulator" (high fidelity vehicle model) for the University's varied transportation research needs.
Other key components are the scenario control subsystem that includes autonomous traffic simulation, scripted events, relational behaviors and environmental controls. This subsystem also collects data and performs measurement functions of the simulator for research analysis.
The visual subsystem handles all real time visual rendering processes, including animated and static objects in the scene. This makes what the driver sees out the window seem very realistic. The visual component is able to render VRML or OpenFlight databases in real time. The audio software and hardware provide audio cues to match what the driver would expect under the conditions being simulated. Synthesized sounds include engine, wind, tire whine, and noise from other vehicles.
