RealTime Technologies (RTI), a part of Arotech Corporation’s (NasdaqGM: ARTX) Training and Simulation Division, was chosen and has delivered to Old Dominion University's Virginia Modeling and Simulation Center (VMASC) a single seat open cockpit research vehicle simulator. (VMASC) is a multi-disciplinary research center of Old Dominion University. VMASC supports the University's Modeling & Simulation (M&S) degree programs, offering M&S Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. degrees to students across the Colleges of Engineering and Technology, Sciences, Education, and Business. Working with more than one hundred industry, government, and academic members, VMASC furthers the development and applications of modeling, simulation and visualization as enterprise decision-making tools to promote economic, business, and academic development.

RTI is very excited to work with Dr. Papelis who is the Chief Scientist and a Research Professor along with his research team at Old Dominion University's Virginia Modeling Analysis & Simulation Center (VMASC). Dr. Papelis focuses include modeling & simulation with emphasis on un-manned & autonomous systems, critical infrastructure modeling frameworks, behavioral representation and modeling, human-in-the-loop simulation, and visualization.
About The Simulator Hardware and Software:
RTI's SimCreator provides the core software of the vehicle simulator. SimCreator is a graphical, hierarchical, real-time simulation and modeling system. It includes high-fidelity vehicle dynamic models that are reconfigurable to represent different vehicles as needed. SimVista, another RTI software package included with the simulator is a tile-based scene and scenario authoring system.
Other key components are the scenario control subsystem that includes autonomous traffic simulation, scripted events, relational behaviors and environmental controls. This subsystem also collects data and performs measurement functions of the simulator for research analysis.
The visual subsystem handles all real time visual rendering processes, including animated and static objects in the scene. This makes what the driver sees out the window seem very realistic. The visual component is able to render VRML or OpenFlight databases in real time. The audio software and hardware provide audio cues to match what the driver would expect under the conditions being simulated. Synthesized sounds include engine, wind, tire whine, and noise from other vehicles.
